What is this blog?

Well, grab a seat, help yourself to a Mai Tai or bourbon on the rocks (perhaps a Perrier if you don’t drink), and let me tell you.

This blog is going to have everything from rants about American society and politics to restaurant and movie reviews to recounts of real WTF moments in everyday life. Oh, and there will be some shameless self-promotion too, assuming I’ll ever finish these so called novels I’ve written, thrown into the garbage, and then fished out again. Repeatedly, I might add.

I’m not going to lie. I might upset and alienate some of my readers, many of whom are very good friends. Don’t take anything I say too personally, and if you do, please feel free to speak your mind. I won’t delete your posts and I will listen to what you have to say. Just don’t expect me to be nice if I completely disagree with you.

I play nice in real life. The kid gloves come off here, and I will be ruthless.

Sincerely Yours,
Beatrice “Betty” Vine

HEY! I just went on a huge walk down memory lane looking for you. ^_^ I looked on my LJ, but you deleted it. I searched my memory for where I used to do fanfiction (it’s been 7 years…) and came up with AFF. I then found my stories and found that I had been crossposting on FF! And then I found my stories there, read through them, found your pen name and the name of your stories I first read, and FINALLY! FOUND YOU! ^_^ How are you? I’d love if you’d drop me an email or something, been wondering how you were! (lostindeath on LJ, katarica most other places)

      Hey Kat!

Wow, I can’t believe you remember me. I went on a huge stroll on memory lane myself, and suddenly I fell into the temptation of writing a fanfic for the first time in years. Guess old habits die hard!

I’m doing very well! I’ll shoot you a personal email for where I’m at for privacy reasons. We need to catch up!

I just wanted to tell you how much your novel “The Hunt For Elsewhere” means to me and how life affirming it was to read. As someone with autism, sometimes I don’t know where life will take me-and sometimes I get scared and sometimes I want to quite finding new things because of my own doubts. “The Hunt for Elsewhere” really made me re-think my own thoughts and I wanted to send you a review, thanks so much and I wish you the best. 🙂

      Dear Equus21,

I cannot tell you how much your kind and generous review and personal note means to me. I self-published “The Hunt for Elsewhere” in 2012 and have written several other stories since then that either didn’t work or didn’t make it for one reason or another. I’ve very much felt like a failure, especially this year, and had come to believe my writing was no good. I was very close to giving up. But along comes your wonderful review. You have moved me and given me more strength than you can possibly know. Because of you, I will not give up. I will keep writing no matter how hard it gets.

I cannot stress it enough: Thank you, Daniel. My next story, I will see through. I hope you will continue to write, make films, and do what you love as well.

      Bettina (Beatrice Vine)
